#31-Tidal Dynamics (Vol. 02): Extreme Tidal Peaks & Coastal Flooding

            (2001) [Wood]

-Tidal forces are secondary effects of the force of gravity, which are responsible for the rising and lowering of the tides. They occur because the gravitational force exerted on one body by a second body is not constant across its diameter. The side nearest to the second body experiences a greater force, while the opposite side experiences a lesser force. In this second JCR Special Issue volume covering tidal dynamics, examples of extreme tidal peaks and coastal flooding are presented in a comprehensive series of remarkable case studies.
